North American Sportsbook of the Year award for FanDuel
Perhaps, arguably coming as no surprise to most, is the fact that FanDuel has scooped up the award for North American Sportsbook of the Year at the AGA (American Gaming Awards).
It has by all accounts, been a highly progressive last 12 months for the US behemoth, which is ranked as being in the top one per cent in every state that it operates in. Of course, there are also firm competitors, DraftKings and BetMGM (a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and UK conglomerate Entain), though it appears that FanDuel has cracked the relative markets.
The US online gambling and online sports betting market has exploded over the last two years and it is understood that it can become the biggest and most potent in time if it hasn’t already made a significant challenge.
Onwards and Upwards for FanDuel
While there continue to be impressive performances, FanDuel can certainly be proud of how far it has come as a company and although being the child of parent company Flutter Entertainment, this is definitely a major coup.
The next 12 months will certainly be intriguing for the brand with continued market-penetration and leadership arguably the most important priority, though it could also mean that to ensure this, especially in new states, that it may secure strategic partnerships with more sports franchises - something that it has great success with, from a marketing perspective.
For the brand, the sportsbook is particularly impressive and covers a wide array of sports in many countries and offering numerous markets, such as its live in-play vertical which it has some major success with.
Continued consolidating to ensure of a strong 2023
Arguably one of the brand’s strengths is its marketing and branding expertise that has helped it to take a huge share of the US market over the last few years. Obviously helped by the fact that it was also an authority in the fantasy sports niche, this has had a great effect on how popular it is.
Meanwhile, next year will provide interesting insights as to what direction it goes in - whether it pays particular attention to its online casino, or whether it sportsbook will continue to improve.
Whatever happens for FanDuel, there is no doubt that it is going down the right paths, as highlighted by its latest award.
